Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Goes beyond traditional creams and major surgeries to improve sun-damaged skin and other facial concerns safely and effectively with minimal down time or interference with an active lifestyle.

The passage of time and the pleasures and stresses of daily life, along with environmental pollution can cause changes to our skin - such as:

  • Sun and Smoke Damage
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Broken Capillaries
  • Mild Acne Scars
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Pigmented Freckles and Age Spots
  • Dull Complexions
  • Uneven Pigmentation
  • Liver Spots

What are Pigmentation Spots?

Benign pigmented spots are coloured spots or patches on the skin caused by increased production of melanin, the dark pigment in the skin (sun spots, age spots, freckles, uneven skin tone). Some lesions are present at birth whilst others develop with exposure to sun or with age. Everybody wants smooth, clear youthful looking skin. Unfortunately sun damage is inevitable.

Uneven skin tone is patchy areas on the skin caused by increased production of melanin, the dark pigment in the skin. These can develop with the use of harsh products, exposure to sun or with age.

Freckles are localized deposits of melanin. Brown, round or oval pigmented areas on the skin, they are often barely visible. Freckles often occur most often in people with fair skin and light or red hair. The tendency to freckle is usually inherited. They become more numerous and darker in the sun, and therefore more noticeable.

If you have benign pigmented spots then the only way to get rid of them is to have laser treatment. This damage is well beneath the top layers of skin and no creams will ever be able to repair the damage.

How does Pigmentation Spot Removal work?

The Intense Pulsed Light system produces a light that eliminates flaws without damaging the surrounding skin. A sapphire crystal waveguide conducts the filtered light to the target chromophores in the tissues causing the unwanted skin lesions to heat up and disintegrate/disappear. Discolouration of the skin and hyper-pigmentation can be irradiated.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments will depend on the type and size of the pigmented lesion but typically 1 to 3 sessions are required at 4-6 week intervals.

How do I prepare for a treatment?

Patients should avoid tanning on the treatment area roughly one month ahead of treatment to avoid excessive light absorption in the skin. Immediately after the treatment the skin is particularly sensitive to UV light and strong sunlight should be avoided for at least 2 weeks. High factor sun lotions can be used.

What is the treatment like?

The procedure is non-invasive and pain free. Many people describe the procedure as a flick of an elastic band.

What skin types can be treated?

All skin types can be treated with the IPL machine except black skin type. For this skin type a natural skin peel maybe recommended for skin rejuvenation. Please enquire for more details.

Why do I need a Test Patch?

This is to check your skin suitability and to ensure there are no adverse reactions to the treatment. A period of 2 - 5 days must be left between this and commencement of treatment. Not all clients will require a test patch and this will be assessed within the consultation.

This revolutionary Chemical Skin Peel has been scientifically developed with specific combinations of natural acids to produce the optimum results in reducing pigmentation. Depigmenting Peel is the most effective way to achieve a brighter and even skin tone, free of darkspots and hyperpigmentation, is to eliminate skin cells rich in melanin and prevent the darkening of the new skin cells. This is a difficult question to answer and depends on your skin and what you are looking to improve. Individually skin care programs will be designed to suit you by our highly trained professionals. Instant Vascular results with our latest Radio Frequency technology!

Radio frequency treatments safely and effectively treat many different conditions such as Rosacea, Melasma, Thread Veins, Cherry Hemangiomas, Milia, Acne, Skin Tags, Sebaceous Hyperplasia, Frown Lines, Cholesterol Deposits, Pigmentation etc.

All the different conditions vary on how they respond to the treatment. Thread veins respond instantly but it may take several sessions to get all of them. With our treatment you are not going into the deeper layers of skin to remove tissue. You are simply touching the epidermis and allowing the current to attract to the water in the milia, sebaceous hyperplasia, cherry hemangioma or acne.

This dehydrates the problem area causing the body (over a few days) to exfoliate the dried skin. The down time is minimal and the treatment can be permanent. (please look at laser treatments for more information on some conditions).

What is the treatment like?

What the client feels during the treatment is a slight heat sensation - depending on their pain tolerance. However sometimes we apply an OTC (over-the-counter) topical anaesthetic (depending on the area) before the treatment... (not to anaesthetise but to desensitise the area). It takes about 10-15 minutes to work.
